The year 2021 marked a significant milestone for the United States Mint, celebrating the thirty-fifth anniversary of the beloved American Eagle coin program. On the front, the coin retains the classic depiction of Lady Liberty, a legendary design by Adolph A. Weinman that first graced the series at its inception in 1986. The obverse features the traditional inscriptions, including the year 2021 and the phrase IN GOD WE TRUST. The reverse showcases the artistic vision of Emily Damstra, brought to life by sculptor Michael Gaudioso. It portrays a powerful eagle in mid-air, preparing to land while carrying an oak branch in its talons.
