In 2021, Canada marked the 125th anniversary of the historic Klondike Gold Rush with a remarkably creative legal tender coin. This piece stands out for its dramatic concave shape, designed to mimic the actual pan used by prospectors during the late nineteenth-century gold rush. Adding to the visual realism, the reverse rim is selectively plated in gold, and the design features gold-plated nuggets and tiny flecks resting at the bottom of the curved dish.
