In 2021, the United States Mint released a special silver commemorative coin to mark exactly one century since the final classic Morgan Dollars were struck. Originally minted from 1878 to 1904, and then for one last year in 1921, these iconic coins are celebrated in this modern issue. This particular version features a "CC" privy mark, paying homage to the historic Carson City Mint. The coin's design is based on the original nineteenth-century artwork by George T. Morgan. The obverse displays a left-facing profile of Liberty, adorned with a Phrygian cap that is decorated with ears of wheat and cotton blossoms. On the reverse, a majestic American eagle is shown with its wings spread wide, holding a bundle of arrows and an olive branch within a surrounding laurel wreath. Struck from 0.858 troy ounces of 0.999 fine silver, this modern dollar has a strictly limited mintage of 175,000 pieces.
