In 2021, a special silver dollar emerged to mark exactly one century since the final classic Morgan Dollar was struck. This modern issue pays tribute to a legendary era of American coinage, which originally spanned from 1878 to 1904, and returned for a single year in 1921. Though struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this particular coin carries a distinctive "CC" privy mark, paying homage to the historic Carson City Mint where many original 19th-century dollars were born. Production was strictly limited to a mintage of 175,000 pieces. Crafted from 0.858 troy ounces of fine silver, the coin revives the celebrated artwork of George T. Morgan. The obverse presents a profile of Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap, which is beautifully adorned with wheat and cotton blossoms. The word "LIBERTY" is inscribed along her crown, with the year 2021 positioned at the bottom. The reverse displays a powerful American eagle with its wings spread wide, holding a bundle of arrows and an olive branch. A delicate laurel wreath surrounds the eagle, framing the central motif. Legible inscriptions on the coin include the national motto "In God we trust" and the issuing authority, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA."
