2021 Croatia 1 oz Silver Dalmatian BU
2021 Croatia 1 oz Silver Dalmatian BU
The Dalmatian dog breed is famously linked to Croatia, tracing its name back to the coastal region of Dalmatia along the Adriatic Sea. In 1994, the International Kennel Federation officially recognized this spotted canine as a native Croatian breed. This modern silver coin celebrates that heritage as the very first release in the country's Autochthonous Series. Struck from one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver, the coin features distinct designs on both sides. The obverse displays a side-profile portrait of a Dalmatian, beautifully paired with an inset representation of the Croatian national flag. This side also carries the country's name, 'Republilica Hrvatska', alongside the face value of '10 Kunas'. On the reverse, a charming scene depicts two Dalmatians together. The Latin name for the breed, 'Canis Dalmaticus', is inscribed alongside the design. With a limited mintage of 15,000 pieces, this issue offers a wonderful exploration of Croatia's natural and cultural identity through the medium of precious metal.
