In 2021, the Denver Mint struck a special silver dollar that bridges two different eras of American coining. This modern issue contains 0.858 troy ounces of 99.9 percent pure silver and was produced with a strict limit of 175,000 pieces. Its release came exactly one century after the very last historic Morgan dollars left the mint in 1921, offering a direct connection to the past. The obverse side presents a classic profile of Liberty. She wears a Phrygian cap, which is decorated with a crown of cotton blossoms and ears of wheat. The date 2021 is inscribed at the bottom of the design. On the reverse, an American eagle is depicted with its wings spread wide. The eagle holds an olive branch and a cluster of arrows in its talons, framed by a delicate laurel wreath. This side also features the Denver Mint's distinctive 'D' mint mark, identifying its origin at the Colorado facility.
