This striking silver release from 2021 brings a historic nineteenth-century design back to life. Struck from one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver, the coin serves as a modern recreation of the original 1818 guilder. Authorized and produced by the Royal Dutch Mint, this special issue was limited to a remarkably small mintage of only 400 pieces, making it an exceptionally rare find for those exploring world coin designs. The front of the coin displays a detailed profile portrait of King Willem I. Surrounding his likeness is the Latin inscription "WILLEM KONING DER NED. G. H. V. L." Alongside the portrait, keen observers will notice a small anchor paired with a lamp, which represents the personal mark of the original designer, Michaut. Along the edge of the coin, the traditional motto "* GOD * ZIJ * MET * ONS" is inscribed. On the reverse, the crowned coat of arms of the Netherlands takes center stage, accompanied by the coin's nominal face value. This side also carries important historical minting symbols, including the Mercury staff representing the Utrecht mint, and the specific privy mark belonging to Mint Master Suermondt.
