A century after the final classic Morgan dollars left the mint, a modern tribute emerged to celebrate this iconic American design. The 2021 release honors the legacy of the original series, which was minted from 1878 to 1904, and once more in 1921. This contemporary version contains 0.858 troy ounces of 0.999 fine silver, struck with a strict mintage limit of 175,000 pieces for this specific variety. On the obverse, the profile of Liberty is depicted wearing a Phrygian cap, decorated with ears of wheat and cotton blossoms, with the inscription LIBERTY and the year 2021 visible. The reverse displays an eagle with its wings spread wide, grasping arrows and an olive branch within a laurel wreath. To honor the historic New Orleans Mint, this modern issue carries a special O privy mark.
