2021-(O) Silver Morgan Dollar (O Privy, Box & COA)
In 2021, a special silver dollar was struck to mark the centenary of the very last classic Morgan Dollar. This modern tribute, minted in Philadelphia, features a dedicated "O" privy mark. This mark pays direct homage to the historic New Orleans Mint, where many of the original nineteenth and early twentieth-century dollars were once produced. Containing 0.858 troy ounces of 0.999 fine silver, this brilliant uncirculated coin was limited to a mintage of 175,000 pieces. The obverse displays a left-facing profile of Liberty, who wears a Phrygian cap adorned with cotton blossoms and wheat ears. On the reverse, an American eagle is depicted with its wings fully spread, holding an olive branch alongside a bundle of arrows within a laurel wreath. The design is based on the historic work of George T. Morgan, reviving a classic era of American coinage for modern observers.
