The 2021 Kennedy half dollar, struck at the Philadelphia Mint, continues a long-running tradition in American coinage. This Brilliant Uncirculated specimen showcases the classic profile of President John F. Kennedy on the obverse, a design originally crafted by Gilroy Roberts. The portrait is accompanied by the national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST, which is split across the lower half of the design, just above the 2021 year of issue. On the reverse, the coin features the detailed heraldic eagle design by Frank Gasparro. The eagle holds a bundle of arrows in one claw and an olive branch in the other, symbolizing both strength and peace. Above the eagle, the traditional Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM is displayed on a scroll, while the inscriptions UNITED STATES of America and the HALF DOLLAR denomination frame the central design. This modern half dollar is composed of a copper and nickel outer layer bonded to a core of pure copper. The small P mint mark, located just above the date on the obverse, identifies its origin from the historic Philadelphia minting facility.
