2021-S American Silver Eagle (Type 2) PR-70 PCGS

1.0000 troy oz .999 2021 Proof - 70 DCAM (PCGS)

The year 2021 marked a major milestone for the United States Mint with the introduction of the Type 2 American Silver Eagle. This update represents the first major design change in the history of the series, which began in 1986. While the original illustration of Lady Liberty graced the coin for decades, this modern release brings a fresh perspective to the beloved silver dollar. On the obverse, the design showcases Lady Liberty draped in the American flag, confidently striding toward a rising sun over a mountain ridge. The inscriptions read "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the year "2021". This side retains the classic illustration originally created by Weinman, preserving a historic connection to early twentieth-century American coinage. The reverse introduces an entirely new composition designed by Emily Damstra and sculpted by Michael Gaudioso. It features a detailed bald eagle in mid-flight, descending with its wings spread as it carries an oak branch in its talons. Surrounding the eagle are the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "E PLURIBUS UNUM", "1 OZ. FINE SILVER", and the face value, "ONE DOLLAR". Struck at the San Francisco Mint, this sovereign coin contains one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver. It bears the "S" mint mark, indicating its origin. This specific proof release has a limited mintage of 200,000 pieces and is certified in perfect Proof 70 Deep Cameo condition, highlighting the sharp contrast between the frosted design elements and the mirror-like backgrounds.
