In 2021, the San Francisco Mint struck a special silver dollar to mark exactly one century since the final classic Morgan Dollars were produced. This modern tribute is minted in 0.858 troy ounces of 99.9 percent pure silver, bringing a beloved nineteenth-century design into the modern era with a brilliant uncirculated finish. The issue was strictly limited, with a maximum production run of 175,000 pieces. The front of the coin features a left-facing portrait of Liberty. She wears a Phrygian cap decorated with wheat ears and cotton blossoms, symbolizing American agriculture. The reverse displays a heraldic eagle with its wings fully spread, grasping an olive branch and arrows to represent peace and readiness. A laurel wreath frames the lower portion of the eagle, completing the classic imagery that originally circulated from 1878 to 1904, and once more in 1921. This specific release carries the 'S' mint mark on the reverse, denoting its origin at the San Francisco facility. Legible inscriptions on the coin include the national motto 'In God We Trust' and the issuing country, 'UNITED STATES OF AMERICA', alongside the face value of 'ONE DOLLAR'.
