The year 2021 marked a major milestone for the United States Mint's premier bullion program, celebrating thirty-five years since its inception in 1986. To honor this anniversary, the tenth-ounce gold coin introduced a brand-new reverse design. This updated look features a detailed close-up portrait of an eagle, envisioned by Jennie Norris and sculpted by Renata Gordon. Surrounding this powerful image are the traditional inscriptions, including the country of origin, the five-dollar denomination, the metal weight, and the classic mottos of faith and unity. On the other side, the coin retains the iconic figure of Liberty walking forward with a torch and an olive branch, originally created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. For this special release, the obverse was carefully modified to restore finer details from the artist's original historical design. Minted at the West Point facility, this particular coin is struck in a composition of 91.67 percent gold, alloyed with silver and copper for durability, and has been certified in perfect proof condition with a deep cameo contrast.
