This proof edition, minted at West Point, showcases the highly anticipated Type 2 reverse, bringing a fresh artistic vision to the celebrated series. On the front of the coin, observers will find a refreshed rendition of the classic image originally created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. This updated version of Lady Liberty, carrying a lit torch and an olive branch against a backdrop of sunbeams, has been refined with extra details to more closely align with the creator's initial vision. The West Point mint mark is visible on this side, confirming its origin. The reverse introduces an entirely new motif, marking the first time the series has changed its reverse imagery since 1986. Designed by Jennie Norris and sculpted by Renata Gordon, it features an intimate, detailed profile of an eagle. Legible inscriptions on this face include the face value of 50 dollars, the gold weight of one ounce, and the traditional mottos of the United States. Struck from one troy ounce of gold, these coins are composed of 91.67 percent fine gold. To ensure the coin remains durable and resistant to wear, the alloy includes small portions of silver and copper.
