The year 2021 represented a major milestone for the United States Mint as it introduced a fresh look for its signature silver bullion program. This particular specimen showcases the Type 2 design update, struck with a striking reverse proof finish that flips the traditional contrast of frosted and mirrored surfaces. Produced at the West Point Mint, this one-ounce coin of 0.999 fine silver has been certified in perfect Proof 70 Ultra Cameo condition. On the front, the coin retains the classic depiction of Lady Liberty draped in the American flag as she strides toward a rising sun. This iconic image, originally created by Adolph A. Weinman, was first used on the half dollar circulating from 1916 to 1947. Liberty is shown holding branches of oak and laurel in her left hand while stretching her right hand forward. The front also displays the year 2021 and the traditional phrase "IN GOD WE TRUST". The reverse side debuts the updated illustration created by Emily Damstra and sculpted by Michael Gaudioso. It portrays a dynamic scene of an eagle descending toward a landing, grasping an oak branch in its talons. This new artwork replaced the original reverse design that had been used since the series first launched in 1986. The inscriptions on this side include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "E PLURIBUS UNUM", and the denomination "ONE DOLLAR".
