2022 1 oz Gold Buffalo MS-70 PCGS (FirstStrike®)
Introduced in 2006, the American Gold Buffalo series represents a major milestone as the first 0.9999 fine gold bullion coin issued by the United States Mint. This 2022 release carries on that tradition of purity, containing one troy ounce of exceptionally pure gold. Backed fully by the United States government, this fifty dollar denomination coin has been graded in perfect Mint State 70 condition, indicating its flawless strike and preservation. The obverse displays a powerful profile portrait of a Native American, a classic design accompanied by the inscription LIBERTY and the 2022 date. The artwork on both sides of the coin is based directly on the historic Buffalo Nickel imagery created by James Earle Fraser. On the reverse, a massive American bison dominates the design. This depiction was modeled after Black Diamond, a famous bison who lived at the Central Park Zoo. Surrounding the animal are the traditional inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, IN GOD WE TRUST, and the coin's weight, purity, and face value.
