The Australian Gold Kangaroo series has a fascinating evolution, starting out in 1986 under the name of the Gold Nugget. Just three years later, in 1989, the design shifted to celebrate the continent's most famous marsupial. This particular 2022 issue continues that legacy with a brand-new reverse illustration, keeping with the tradition of changing the kangaroo imagery every single year. On this tenth-ounce release, the reverse design captures a kangaroo alongside its young joey as they leap together across a level, grassy landscape. In the distance, small hills rise against the horizon. This side also displays the inscription "Australian Kangaroo," the 2022 issue year, the weight, and the 0.9999 gold purity, alongside the traditional "P" mint mark representing the Perth Mint. The obverse of the coin features the Jody Clark portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, surrounded by her name and the official face value of 15 Dollars. Struck from highly pure gold, this legal tender Australian coin is part of a limited production run of 200,000 pieces.
