This brilliant uncirculated silver coin from 2022 celebrates the natural heritage of Barbados. Struck from one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver, the piece represents the third entry in the ongoing Caribbean Series, which highlights the brown pelican, the national bird of Barbados. Backed by the Barbadian government as official legal tender with a face value of one dollar, this release was produced by the MDM Mint with a limited run of 10,000 pieces. The obverse of the coin showcases the detailed Barbados coat of arms. This intricate national symbol features a central shield flanked by a dolphin and a pelican, beneath a helmet adorned with decorative mantling, a wreath, and an outstretched arm grasping sugar cane. The shield itself displays Pride of Barbados flowers and a bearded fig tree. Below this heraldic display, the national motto reads Pride and Industry, accompanied by inscriptions indicating the country name, the face value, and the silver purity. On the reverse, the brown pelican takes center stage. The bird is depicted with its wings fully spread, perched atop a wooden pier post. Beneath the pier, stylized ocean waves roll by, while soft clouds drift in the sky above. The reverse design is framed by inscriptions that read Caribbean Silver, the year of issue, and the weight and purity of the precious metal.
