Struck by the Royal Mint, this 2022 silver coin showcases one of the most enduring symbols of British sovereign authority. The piece is minted from one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver and carries a face value of two pounds. Although this specific coin displays some surface scuffs and spotting, the detail of its complex heraldic engraving remains a compelling subject for study. The reverse of the coin features a modern reinterpretation of the Royal Arms by designer Timothy Noad, building upon the classic layout originally created by Eric Sewell. This design prominently features the shield of the United Kingdom, supported by the crowned English lion and the Scottish unicorn. Encircling the shield is the garter of the Order of the Garter, bearing the French inscription "HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE," which translates to "shame on him who thinks evil of it." On the obverse, the coin bears the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Jody Clark, whose initials appear in the background field. The obverse inscriptions denote the monetary denomination of 2 pounds.
