2022 Israel Proof Gold 10 NIS Gamla And The Vultures
This striking 2022 gold proof coin represents the fourth entry in the celebrated Views of Israel series. Struck in 0.917 fine gold with a weight of 0.545 ounces, the piece showcases the dramatic landscapes and wildlife of the Gamla Nature Reserve. The Holy Land Mint, active since 1961, produced a highly limited run of only 555 of these ten shekel pieces, making it a remarkably scarce modern issue. The obverse of the coin features a detailed vulture gliding gracefully in midair, set against the rugged backdrop of the Gamla cliffs. The design also incorporates the face value of 10 New Sheqalim, the year of minting, and the Hebrew letter Mem, which serves as the mint mark. The inscriptions "GAMLA AND THE VULTURES" are legible alongside their Arabic and Hebrew equivalents. On the reverse, the coin presents a wider panoramic view of the Gamla Reserve. This side highlights the Vulture Observation Point and depicts several vultures circling high above the ancient landscape. The intricate engraving captures both the natural beauty and the ecological importance of this unique sanctuary.
