Designed by artist Joel Iskowitz, the coin honors the legendary scientist Sir Isaac Newton through a detailed and symbolic obverse. The design depicts Newton holding a prism that refracts a beam of light. Surrounding him are several other nods to his monumental discoveries, including a floating apple suspended above an open book, celestial orbs, a mathematical equation, and a representation of the 1718 Gold Quarter Guinea.
