The 2022-S Proof Silver American Eagle represents a modern chapter in United States coinage. Strikingly rendered at the San Francisco Mint, this one-dollar coin is minted from one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver. It features a brilliant proof finish, which highlights the sharp contrast between the frosted design elements and the mirror-like background fields. This particular release was limited to a product run of 200,000 pieces. This coin showcases the Type 2 design format. On the obverse, Lady Liberty is depicted walking toward a rising sun over a mountain ridge, a classic composition originally created by Adolph A. Weinman. The front of the coin also bears the year 2022 and the traditional motto "IN GOD WE TRUST". The reverse side displays a dynamic scene of a bald eagle in mid-flight, descending toward a landing while grasping an oak branch in its talons. The San Francisco Mint is honored on this side with the distinct "S" mint mark, marking only the second time this redesigned proof coin has been struck at the California facility.
