2022-W 1 oz Reverse Proof Palladium Eagle PR-70 PCGS (FDI)
The American Eagle series welcomed a distinctive addition with the introduction of its first palladium coin. Struck in 2022 at the West Point Mint, this particular issue features a striking Reverse Proof finish, which flips the traditional proof aesthetic by showcasing frosted fields alongside mirror-like raised elements. Composed of one troy ounce of 0.9995 fine palladium, the coin carries a face value of twenty-five dollars and is backed by the United States government. The obverse of the coin presents a classic depiction of Liberty wearing a winged cap, a design originally created by Adolph Weinman for the historic dime. Legible inscriptions on this side include the year 2022, the phrase "IN GOD WE TRUST", and the "W" mint mark indicating its origin. On the reverse, an eagle is shown grasping a branch. This illustration was also designed by Weinman, originally intended for an American Institute of Architects gold medal. The reverse inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM", the denomination "$25", and the metal specifications "1 OZ. Pd 0.9995 FINE". This specific coin has been graded in perfect Proof 70 condition, representing the pinnacle of modern minting quality from a limited release of 7,500 pieces.
