The American Gold Eagle series has captivated observers since its initial release in 1986. This 2023 edition contains a half ounce of gold with a purity of 0.9167. Struck at the West Point facility in New York, the coin carries a face value of 25 dollars and represents a continuation of one of the United States Mint's most celebrated programs. On the obverse, the iconic figure of Lady Liberty stands tall, holding a lit torch in one hand to light the way and an olive branch in the other as a symbol of peace. The year 2023 is clearly inscribed on this side, marking its place in the modern era of American coinage. The reverse of the coin features a detailed close-up portrait of an eagle. This particular reverse design was introduced in the middle of 2021, refreshing the series with a modern artistic perspective. The design was envisioned by Artistic Infusion Program designer Jennie Norris and brought to life by sculptor Renata Gordon, a Medallic Artist who captured the fierce, majestic gaze of the national bird.
