2023 1/4 oz American Gold Eagle MS-70 PCGS (First Day of Issue)
The 2023 American Gold Eagle represents a beautiful continuation of the United States Mint's updated design legacy. Struck in a quarter-ounce of 0.9167 fine gold, this ten-dollar denomination coin has a diameter of 22 mm and a thickness of 1.83 mm. This particular specimen has achieved the highest possible grade of Mint State 70, indicating its flawless condition. On the obverse, a classic depiction of Lady Liberty strides forward, accompanied by the inscriptions LIBERTY and the year 2023. This side of the coin features refined details adapted from the original historical artwork created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The reverse showcases a highly detailed close-up portrait of an eagle, a design first introduced in 2021 and carried forward into the 2023 issue. This modern reverse artwork was designed by Jennie Norris and sculpted by Renata Gordon. Surrounding the eagle are the national mottos IN GOD WE TRUST and E PLURIBUS UNUM, along with the country of issue, the metal weight, and the face value of 10 DOLLARS.
