The 2023 American Silver Eagle represents a continuing legacy in United States coinage, carrying forward a bullion tradition that first began in 1986. Struck in one troy ounce of 99.9 percent pure silver, this coin carries a face value of one dollar, with its weight and purity fully backed by the United States government. On the obverse, the celebrated Walking Liberty design by Adolph A. Weinman shows Lady Liberty moving gracefully toward a rising sun over a mountain ridge. The design is accompanied by the legible inscriptions of the year 2023 and the classic American motto, IN GOD WE TRUST. The reverse side displays a detailed depiction of an eagle descending for a landing while grasping an oak branch in its talons.
