Introduced by the United States Mint in 2006, the American Buffalo series has become a celebrated fixture of modern coinage. As a sovereign coin backed by the United States government, it carries a face value of 50 dollars and has been certified in outstanding Mint State 69 condition. The coin features artwork adapted from the historic 1913 Buffalo Nickel, originally created by James Earle Fraser. The obverse presents a powerful profile of an Native American man, accompanied by the inscription LIBERTY and the 2023 date. The reverse showcases a majestic American bison, widely believed to have been modeled after Black Diamond, a famous resident of the Central Park Zoo in New York. This side also displays traditional national mottos alongside the weight and purity inscriptions.
