The 2023 installment of the Australian Lunar Series III features the Year of the Rabbit. Struck by the Perth Mint, this gold coin contains one tenth of an ounce of extremely pure 0.9999 gold. The series, which commenced in 2020 and runs annually through 2031, honors the rotating animals of the Chinese zodiac with a fresh reverse design each year. Since 1996, these gold lunar-themed issues have been minted with this high level of gold purity. On the reverse, a rabbit is depicted mid leap as it travels through blades of grass. This side also displays the Chinese character representing the rabbit, the English inscription "RABBIT 2023", and the "P" mint mark signifying the Perth Mint. The coin carries a face value of 15 Dollars and is backed as official legal tender by the government of Australia. The obverse features the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II designed by Jody Clark. Surrounding the royal likeness are inscriptions detailing the weight of 1/10 ounce, the 0.9999 gold purity, the country name "AUSTRALIA", and the 15 Dollar denomination.
