This modern silver coin from 2023 highlights the natural beauty and official heraldry of Barbados. Minted with one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver, the sovereign coin carries a face value of one dollar, backed fully by the Barbadian government. The release is limited to a mintage of 10,000 pieces. The obverse side displays the detailed Barbados coat of arms. At the center of this national symbol is the Golden Shield, which depicts a bearded fig tree alongside two Pride of Barbados flowers. Supporting the shield are a dolphin and a pelican. Above the shield, a helmet and mantling lead to a hand holding two crossed sugar canes. The scroll below bears the national motto, "Pride and Industry." On the reverse, a pelican is shown resting on a tree branch with its wings slightly spread. This avian subject is set against a stylized background of ocean waves and clouds. The reverse also bears the inscriptions "CARIBBEAN SILVER," the 2023 issue year, and the metal purity.
