2023 Niue 1 oz Silver Icons of Inspiration: Marie Curie MS-70 NGC

This modern silver release celebrates the brilliant life of Marie Curie, a trailblazing scientist who secured a unique place in history as the first woman to receive a Nobel Prize, and the sole female recipient to win the prestigious award twice. Her academic achievements also include becoming the inaugural female physics professor at Sorbonne University. Struck from one ounce of 0.999 fine silver, this coin is the sixth entry in the celebrated Icons of Inspiration series. It has achieved a perfect grading of Mint State 70 (MS-70) and features an enhanced brilliant uncirculated satin finish, with the entire production run limited to 10,000 pieces. The obverse side presents a detailed portrait of Marie Curie as she studies a vial containing the chemical symbol for radium, the element she famously researched. Her personal signature is inscribed directly beneath her likeness. The artistry on this side, along with the reverse, was developed by designer Joel Iskowitz. On the reverse, a symbolic muse reaches upward toward the sun. This side also displays the public seal of Niue, the island nation of issue, alongside the two-dollar face value and the 2023 year of issue. Legible inscriptions on the coin include the denomination TWO DOLLARS, the year 2023, and the Niuean national motto, RIUE ATUA TUKULAGI.
