The 2023-S Proof American Silver Eagle represents a stunning blend of historic American coin design and contemporary artistry. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, this one-ounce silver coin features the distinct 'S' mint mark. As a sovereign issue backed by the United States government, it contains one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver, presented with a highly reflective proof finish that highlights the intricate details of its engraving. On the obverse, the coin showcases the iconic figure of Lady Liberty moving gracefully toward the dawn of a new day, draped in the stars and stripes as the sun emerges over a mountain ridge. This legendary image is adapted from the classic Walking Liberty half dollar, which originally circulated from 1916 to 1947. Legible inscriptions on this face include the words LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, alongside the year 2023. The reverse displays a modern depiction of a soaring eagle grasping an oak branch in its talons, a design introduced to the American Eagle series in the middle of 2021. This detailed artwork was designed by Emily Damstra of the Artistic Infusion Program and sculpted by Michael Gaudioso.
