2023 Silver Morgan Dollar MS-70 NGC

In 2023, a classic American design returned in ultra-pure 0.999 fine silver. This modern release pays homage to the iconic silver dollars originally minted from 1878 to 1904, and once more in 1921, which first came about following the passage of the Bland-Allison Act. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint with a limited mintage of 275,000 pieces, this particular coin bears no mint mark and has been certified in perfect Mint State 70 condition. The obverse features George T. Morgan's famous left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty. She wears a Phrygian cap adorned with a wreath of wheat and cotton, along with a headband displaying the inscription LIBERTY. A subtle detail is the designer's initial, M, placed on the curve of her neck. The year 2023 is clearly inscribed below the bust. On the reverse, a bald eagle spreads its wings while clutching arrows and an olive branch. The eagle is framed by the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, and the face value of ONE DOLLAR. Another small initial M is located on the ribbon bow. Measuring 38.1 mm in diameter and 6.2 mm in thickness, this substantial coin contains 0.858 troy ounces of silver, offering a beautiful blend of historic design and modern minting precision.
