The legendary Morgan Dollar, originally minted from 1878 to 1904 and briefly brought back in 1921, returned in a modern form for 2023. This contemporary release is struck at the Philadelphia Mint, carrying on a long-standing tradition without displaying a mint mark. Struck from 0.858 troy ounces of 99.9% pure silver, this issue has a strictly limited production run of 275,000 pieces. This particular specimen has achieved the highest possible grade of Mint State 70, indicating a flawless strike and pristine preservation. Designed by George T. Morgan, the obverse of the coin presents a classic left-facing profile of Lady Liberty. She wears a Phrygian cap adorned with cotton blossoms and wheat ears, symbolizing American agricultural heritage. The year 2023 is inscribed below the portrait. The reverse side showcases a powerful American eagle with its wings fully extended. In its talons, the eagle grasps an olive branch of peace alongside a bundle of arrows representing strength. A delicate laurel wreath frames the central design, completing a powerful motif that has captivated numismatists for over a century.
