2023 Silver Morgan Dollar MS-70 PCGS (First Day of Issue)

The iconic design originally created by George T. Morgan returned in 2023, struck in 99.9 percent fine silver by the Philadelphia Mint. This modern release has been certified in perfect Mint State 70 condition, representing the highest possible grade for a circulating-style coin. Weighing 0.858 troy ounces with a diameter of 38.1 millimeters and a thickness of 6.2 millimeters, the coin presents a substantial physical profile that honors its historic predecessors. On the obverse, a left-facing profile of Lady Liberty is depicted wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with a wreath of cotton and wheat. The traditional Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM and thirteen stars encircle the central figure, with the year 2023 inscribed below. Because this issue was produced at the Philadelphia Mint, it does not carry a mint mark on its surface. The reverse features a powerful bald eagle with its wings fully spread, grasping both an olive branch and arrows in its talons. Surrounding the eagle are the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ONE DOLLAR, and the motto IN GOD WE TRUST. With a total mintage of 275,000 pieces, this issue bridges the gap between the classic era of 1878 to 1921 and contemporary minting technology.
