The 2023 Tuvalu one dollar silver coin brings a legendary maritime tale to life. Minted by the Perth Mint, this issue marks the fifth entry in the celebrated Black Flag series. Struck in one troy ounce of highly pure 0.9999 fine silver, the coin is backed as official legal tender by the government of Tuvalu, offering an intriguing blend of modern minting excellence and historical storytelling. The reverse of the coin captures a dramatic scene on the high seas, depicting the notorious pirate ship named the Fancy. The design is rich with thematic details, showing chests overflowing with coins and precious jewels, while a skull looms ominously on the horizon. Key inscriptions on this side include the ship's name, FANCY, and the series designation, BLACK FLAG: HENRY EVERY, alongside the traditional P mint mark representing the Perth Mint, and the weight and metal purity. On the obverse, the coin features the classic effigy of Queen Elizabeth II designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. This portrait is accompanied by the years of her historic reign, 1952 to 2022.
