The Year of the Dragon comes to life in a striking combination of color and precious metal. This 2024 silver coin, struck by Australia's Perth Mint, represents the fifth design in the celebrated Lunar Series III. Crafted from one half ounce of 99.99 percent pure silver, the piece is official Australian legal tender with a face value of 50 cents. On the reverse, a vivid lilac-colored dragon winds through a sky filled with clouds, reaching toward a flaming pearl. This central image is accompanied by the Chinese character for dragon, the inscription "DRAGON 2024", and a unique "P125" mint mark, which honors the 125th anniversary of The Perth Mint. The obverse carries the memorial effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, detailed with the years of her historic reign from 1952 to 2022. Surrounding the portrait are inscriptions indicating the issuing country of Australia, the weight of one half ounce, the 9999 silver purity, and the 50 cents denomination. This brilliant uncirculated release is limited to a maximum mintage of 200,000 coins.
