The Chinese Silver Panda series has captured the imagination of coin enthusiasts since its debut in 1983. With the exception of 1986, when no coins were produced, this series has been issued annually. A defining characteristic of the program is its shifting artwork. Each year brings a fresh illustration of China's most famous bear, with the sole exception of 2002, which repeated the design from 2001. On the reverse of the 2024 edition, a mother panda is depicted alongside her young cub. This side also notes the weight and purity of the metal, inscribed as 30g Ag 0.999, alongside the face value of 10 Yuan. The coin contains 30 grams of fine silver, which is equivalent to 0.9645 troy ounces. The obverse features the iconic Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests, located within Beijing's historic Temple of Heaven. Encircling this architectural marvel are Chinese characters translating to the People's Republic of China, positioned above the 2024 year of issue. These official legal tender coins are backed by the Chinese government. Production is handled by several facilities, including those in Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Shenyang. Because these mints do not employ mint marks, subtle variations in the strike can sometimes be observed depending on where a specific coin was made.
