The Chinese Silver Panda series, which began in 1983, is celebrated for its evolving annual designs. While the very first issues from 1983 to 1985 were struck only as proof coins with small mintages of 10,000 each, and no coins were produced in 1986, the series has since grown into a beloved modern tradition. Almost every single year brings a fresh artistic depiction of China's iconic bear, with the sole exception of 2002, which repeated the design from 2001. On the reverse of this 2024 edition, a touching narrative comes full circle. The scene depicts a mother panda alongside her young cub. In a creative nod to the history of the series, this mother panda is the very same cub that was featured on the 2019 coin design, showing her growth over the years. This side of the coin also displays the weight and purity inscription of 30g Ag 0.999 alongside the face value of 10 Yuan. The obverse features the classic depiction of the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests, located within Beijing's famous Temple of Heaven. Surrounding this architectural landmark is the Chinese inscription for the People's Republic of China, the issuing nation that guarantees the coin, along with the 2024 year of issue. These coins are produced across various facilities, including the Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Shenyang mints. Because Chinese mints do not employ mint marks, subtle design variations can sometimes be spotted between the different manufacturing locations, adding an extra layer of interest for observant examiners.
