2024 China 30 gram Silver Panda MS-70 PCGS (FS, Yin-Yang)

0.9645 troy oz .999 2024 MS-70 (PCGS)

The Chinese Silver Panda series has captured the imagination of coin enthusiasts since its debut in 1983. Aside from a single year of non-production in 1986, these coins have been issued annually, with a new design gracing the reverse almost every year. The sole exception to this tradition occurred in 2002, which repeated the design from 2001. This 2024 edition is struck in 30 grams of 0.999 fine silver and carries a legal tender value of 10 Yuan, fully backed by the government of the People's Republic of China. On the reverse, a heartwarming scene unfolds as a mother panda stands beside her young cub. In a fascinating narrative thread, the mother panda depicted on this 2024 issue is the very same panda featured as a small cub on the 2019 coin, showing her growth over the five-year span. The reverse also displays the weight and purity inscription, "30g Ag 0.999". The obverse showcases the historic Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests, located within Beijing's Temple of Heaven. Surrounding this architectural marvel are the Chinese characters representing the "People's Republic of China" along with the 2024 year of issue. This particular coin has been graded in perfect Mint State 70 (MS-70) condition. Production of these coins takes place across multiple facilities, including the Shanghai, Shenyang, and Shenzhen mints. Unlike many world mints, Chinese facilities do not employ mint marks. Instead, subtle variations in the strike, such as the size of the lettering, the length of the bamboo leaves, or the details of the temple structure, can sometimes reveal which specific mint produced the coin.
