The 2024 Mexican Silver Libertad represents the forty-third annual release in a celebrated series that began in 1982. Struck by La Casa de Moneda de México, each coin contains one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver, with its weight and purity fully backed by the Banco de México. Over the decades, this series has maintained an annual production schedule with mintages that fluctuate from year to year, making each release a unique chapter in Mexican numismatics. The reverse of the coin features the Winged Victory statue, depicted in a three-quarter side profile, a design element introduced to the series in 1996. In the background, the majestic volcanic peaks of Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl rise into the sky. Legible inscriptions on this side include "1 ONZA", "PLATA PURA", "2024", "LEY 0.999", and the distinctive "Mo" mint mark of the Mexico City Mint. On the obverse, a central sculptural relief displays the modern national shield of Mexico, encircled by the inscription "ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS". Surrounding this central emblem are ten historical versions of the national coat of arms, a design update established in the year 2000 to honor the rich evolution of the nation's heritage.
