2024 Niue 1 oz Silver Icons: Beethoven Proof (Signed COA)

The 2024 Niue two dollar silver coin honors the legendary composer and pianist Ludwig van Beethoven. This piece represents the tenth and concluding design in the Icons of Inspiration series. Struck in one ounce of 0.999 pure silver, this proof edition is exceptionally rare, with a total mintage of just 100 proof silver coins, only ten of which feature a certificate of authenticity personally signed by the artist, Joel Iskowitz. The obverse of the coin captures the intensity of Beethoven, depicting him in the act of conducting. The design incorporates piano keys and a rendering of the ceiling from the Hungarian State Opera House located in Budapest. A reproduction of Beethoven's own signature is also integrated into the obverse design. Born in Germany in 1770, Beethoven later relocated to Vienna to learn from Joseph Haydn. Despite experiencing progressive hearing loss starting in 1798, he created revolutionary masterpieces, such as the Eroica Symphony, during his highly productive middle period. His artistic legacy ultimately bridged the gap between the Classical and Romantic eras of music. On the reverse, the design displays a muse alongside the sun, the public seal of Niue, the 2024 year of issue, and the two dollar face value.
