The South African Mint continues its celebration of the continent's most iconic wildlife with the Series III release of the Big Five. Struck in one ounce of 0.999 fine silver, this 2024 issue highlights the majestic elephant, combining intricate artistry with a brilliant uncirculated finish. The issue is limited to a mintage of 10,000 pieces. On the obverse, a powerful elephant is depicted in a full stance with its trunk curled upward. This side also incorporates the South African coat of arms, the issuing country name, and the series designation of "Big Five 2024". The reverse features a creative design choice: two halves of an elephant's face. When two of these coins are placed next to each other, a complete, seamless portrait of a single elephant is formed. The reverse also displays the face value of 5 Rand alongside the weight and purity inscriptions of "1oz", "Ag 999", and "Fine Silver".
