To welcome the year 2025, a special five euro silver coin celebrates the spirit of movement and musical tradition. Issued by the Austrian Mint and backed by the government of Austria, this piece is struck in 0.925 fine silver, containing a quarter ounce of precious metal. The issue is limited to a mintage of 50,000 pieces, making it a distinctive release for the new year. The obverse of the coin, co-created by the design team of Helmut Andexlinger, Anna Rastl, and Rebecca Wilding, features a solo female dancer. Surrounding this central figure are the nine coats of arms representing each of Austria's federal provinces. The year 2025 is clearly inscribed on the coin, marking the moment of its release. On the reverse, the design pays a creative tribute to two monumental figures in Austrian cultural history: the composer Johann Strauss II and the pioneering dancer Grete Wiesenthal.
