2025 Netherlands Proof Silver Ducat Sassenpoort (Box/COA)

This exquisite silver issue transports observers back to the medieval era, celebrating the historic Sassenpoort of Zwolle. Built during the 1400s, this formidable structure remains as a surviving portion of the city's ancient defensive walls. The coin serves as the fifth installment in a dedicated series highlighting the historic city gates and access routes of the Netherlands. On the obverse, the armored figure of Duke Karel van Egmond stands resolutely in front of the Sassenpoort. Known as the final independent feudal sovereign of the Netherlands, his presence is accompanied by a shield displaying the official coat of arms for the province of Overijssel. The Latin inscription MO.NO.ARG.REG.BELGII.TRAN. is also clearly visible on this side. The reverse features the crowned national coat of arms of the Netherlands, flanked by the year 2025. It bears the traditional Latin motto CONCORDIA RES PARVAE CRESCUNT, alongside the official mint and privy marks. Struck in proof finish with a limited release of 1,500 pieces, each coin contains 0.7929 troy ounces of 0.999 fine silver and is backed by the Royal Dutch Mint.
