2025 South Africa 1/4 oz Gold Krugerrand BU
The Gold Krugerrand holds a unique place in numismatic history as the very first modern gold bullion coin, debuting in 1967. Unlike most legal tender, these coins were created without a designated face value. Decades after the initial launch, the South African Mint expanded the series in 1980 by introducing fractional sizes, which includes this quarter-ounce edition. Produced by the South African Mint, a subsidiary of the South African Reserve Bank, the 2025 coin contains exactly one quarter ounce of pure gold. The obverse displays the profile of Paul Kruger, surrounded by the name of the issuing nation written in both English and Afrikaans. On the reverse side, a springbok antelope bounds across the landscape. This side also displays the 2025 year of issue alongside the metal weight, which is inscribed in both English and Afrikaans as fine gold.
