The Spanish Royal Mint continues its celebrated doubloon tradition with the fifth release in the series, a striking 2025 coin struck in one ounce of exceptionally pure 0.9999 fine gold. This issue features a reverse proof finish, which beautifully contrasts frosted backgrounds with polished, mirror-like details to bring its intricate design elements to life. On the reverse, the coin features the brown bear, labeled with the Spanish inscription OSO PARDO. This side also displays the face value of 1,5 EURO, the year 2025, the weight and purity marked as 1 ONZA 999,9 ORO, and the crowned M mint mark representing Madrid. To protect its integrity, the mint has incorporated a highly sophisticated quadruple latent image security feature, which reveals different images when viewed from various angles. The obverse honors classic Spanish numismatic history by depicting the majestic Pillars of Hercules. This symbol represents the connection between the Old World and the New World hemispheres, shown as two crowned globes floating over ocean waves. The legendary motto PLVS VLTRA, meaning further beyond, is draped across the pillars, while the surrounding inscription reads FELIPE VI REY DE ESPAÑA, acknowledging the Spanish monarch.
