The 2026 American Gold Eagle stands as a striking example of modern United States Mint production. Struck in a Brilliant Uncirculated finish, this legal tender coin carries a face value of fifty dollars and contains one troy ounce of gold with a purity of 0.9167. Authorized by legislation passed in 1985, this renowned series made its initial debut in 1986. On the front of the coin, Lady Liberty is depicted walking forward, holding a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other, with the Capitol building visible behind her. This iconic image is adapted from the famous 1907 twenty-dollar gold piece created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The back of the coin displays a close-up portrait of a bald eagle, a design created by Jennie Norris. This modern reverse replaced the original family of eagles motif that was designed by Miley Busiek.
