The Royal Canadian Mint has crafted a remarkable numismatic piece for 2026, showcasing a brilliant fusion of precious metals and gemstones. Struck from two ounces of 0.9999 fine silver, this thirty-dollar coin elevates Canada's classic national symbol through an intricate, multi-layered design. With a highly restricted mintage of only 1,850 pieces, it represents a sophisticated achievement in modern minting technology. The reverse of the coin, designed by Claudio D’Angelo, features a sprig of maple leaves. While two of the leaves are engraved directly onto the silver surface, the central leaf is elevated above the rest. This dimensional centerpiece is cast in sterling silver, bathed in 24-karat gold plating, and hand-set with nine round, brilliant-cut diamonds that total approximately 0.15 carats. This combination of gold, silver, and sparkling gems creates a striking contrast against the proof-finish background. On the obverse, an effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, designed by Steven Rosati, is surrounded by a unique background pattern. Concentric rings of laser-engraved maple leaves radiate outward from the portrait, mirroring the theme of the reverse. The coin bears the inscription CANADA 2026, marking its place as a premier release of the modern era.
