This striking silver coin marks the tenth entry in the celebrated Nautical Ounce series, minted in one ounce of 0.999 fine silver. The release commemorates a century since the construction of the Kruzenshtern, which holds a special place in maritime history as the final cargo-carrying sailing vessel constructed by the F. Laeisz shipping line. Originally christened the Padua, the ship achieved fame by securing world records in 1938 and 1939 as the swiftest square-rigged sailing vessel on the water. It was later renamed Kruzenshtern in 1946. The obverse design captures the majestic vessel under full sail, set against the backdrop of a stylized compass. Detailed nautical instruments flank the central image, alongside the inscriptions KRUZENSHTERN, the year 2026, and the silver purity. On the reverse, the official seal of Rwanda is prominently displayed, accompanied by the face value of 50 Francs, representing a beautiful fusion of maritime legacy and national symbolism.
