This fifty-dollar legal-tender coin stands out as the very first in its long-running series to display both a dual-date inscription and a special privy mark. Struck at the West Point Mint, the coin features the years 1776 and 2026 side-by-side, paired with a small Liberty Bell privy mark on its surface. On the obverse, the design showcases Lady Liberty in stride, holding a torch and an olive branch, with the United States Capitol building visible in the distance. This iconic image is adapted from the famous 1907 double eagle design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The reverse features a detailed portrait of a bald eagle, a design created by Jennie Norris and introduced to the series in 2021, replacing the original family of eagles motif by Miley Busiek. Struck from one troy ounce of gold with a purity of 0.9167, this coin has been certified in perfect Proof 70 Deep Cameo condition. The United States Mint has limited the production of this special edition to a maximum of 25,000 pieces, making it a highly distinctive entry in the series that originally debuted in 1986 under the authorization of the Gold Bullion Coin Act of 1985.
